Volunteer Opportunities

Team Manager:

•    Primary role is communicating to the team, including but not limited to sharing the practice schedule, game schedule, and tournament information
•    Make sure all players are registered
•    Responsible for required items at games, including player cards and rosters
•    Responsible for tournament registration and tournament check in
•    Reschedule league games when there is coach conflict or request from opponent
•    Communicate home game details to the opponent
•    Communicate home and away game details to team
•    May assist in determining team budget
•    This role fulfills the volunteer hour requirement; the $120 fee charged at registration would be refunded


Team Treasurer:
•    Helps determine team budget, working with manager and coach
•    Collects payments from players based on the schedule communicated in the budget
•    Works with manager to pay tournament fees
•    This role fulfills the volunteer hour requirement; the $120 fee charged at registration would be refunded


Raffle Representative:
•    Receives team raffle tickets from club administrator
•    Distributes ticket books to families
•    Receives money from sold tickets and receives unsold tickets to return to club administrator PRIOR TO THE ESTABLISHED DEADLINE
•    This role fulfills the volunteer hour requirement; the $120 fee charged at registration would be refunded


Auction Representative:
•    Communicates auction details to the team
•    Leads procurement of two auction items, valued at a total of $300.  This could be in the form of collecting items donated or procured by the team, or could be purchasing items using money allocated in the team budget.
•    Communicate auction items to the auction coordinator
•    Deliver items to the venue.
•    This role fulfills the volunteer hour requirement; the $120 fee charged at registration would be refunded


Auction Assistant:
•    Help at the auction as needed.  This could be event set up, guest check in, kitchen help, event clean up
•    This role fulfills the volunteer hour requirement on an hour-for-hour basis.  For each hour worked, one hour will be refunded, up to a maximum of four hours


Club Tent:
•    Responsible for getting the team tent to and from games, as well as tent set up and take down
•    Requires a large vehicle
•    This role fulfills the volunteer hour requirement; the $120 fee charged at registration would be refunded


Team Bench:
•    Responsible for getting the team bench to and from games
•    This role does not fulfill any volunteer hour requirement.


AGM Representative:
•    Serve as team representative for the annual Board of Directors election
•    Distribute candidate profiles to the team, collect team feedback, and cast the team vote at the AGM meeting
•    Votes can by cast by proxy; attendance at the meeting fulfills one volunteer hour; $30 of the $120 charged at registration would be refunded


Rush Cup:
•    Help at Rush Cup as needed.  Opportunities include event set up, event tear down, parking lot assistance, apparel tent assistance, and many other activities that may arise.
•    This role fulfills the volunteer hour requirement on an hour-for-hour basis.  For each hour worked, one hour will be refunded, up to a maximum of four hours.


R.E.A.C.H. Coordinator
•    During first year of new uniform cycle, this person will collect the old uniforms from the families their team (two jerseys, and at least one pair of game shorts).
•    They will then catalog the returned uniforms on a form the Club provides, pack up the uniforms with the form and give to our Club REACH Coordinator, Cyndi Litalien.
•    This role will fulfill two hours of the volunteer hour requirement set forth by the Club and will be credited back to your account.

DA Philosophy

Philosophy

“The Rush Way to Play is based upon movement and activity by both player and ball. Possession-oriented does not fully describe how we play; attack-oriented does. Whether in possession or in defense, we are attacking. Rush Players play with freedom, yet understand the importance of responsibility and the balance between the two. Rush teams are flexible and adapt to varying circumstances. The Rush Way to Play represents both passion and purpose”.

•     Players are to be comfortable with a possession-based passing game, where the team will look to try and play out from the back in a coordinated and controlled manner and is developed through the thirds in order to produce goal-scoring opportunities when possible

•     Players will look to recognize opportunities to play forward and execute counter-attacking opportunities where possible but not at the expense of losing possession

•     Players will, upon losing possession, look to immediately regain possession by defending from the front as a preferred option, or to drop and establish a compact defensive shape when unable to do so

•     Above all, our teams are expected to display a competitive and winning mentality – winning games is of importance; however, this is not at the expense of the playing philosophy

The U12 age group will predominantly focus on technical development incorporating decision-making and consideration for basic principles of play. They will play predominantly in a flexible 4-2-2 formation with players encouraged to rotate positions. The U13 & U14 age groups will focus more toward tactical understanding and technical refinement. Players will still be required to have an understanding of a range of positions but as they progress through this phase should begin to develop a primary position within the team. 11v11 games will adopt a flexible 4-3-3 formation. The key aspect regarding formations is that they are a guide. The style of play is dictated by the playing philosophy and takes precedence overall.
