Director of Goalkeeping
Matt began coaching with Washington Rush in May of 2012. Prior to that, he coached for Federal Way United. Originally from Spokane, WA, Matt was the assistant coach at Whitworth University for both the Men's and Women's programs for ten years. During that time he also coached for the Spokane Shadow, serving as the club's coaching director in 2010. Matt was also the Boys Varsity soccer coach at Mead High School in Spokane for six years, qualifying for the tournament four times.
Matt holds a USSF “A” license and is a qualified goalkeeping coach. He's earned a B.A. in kinesiology and a M.A.T. in special education, both from Whitworth. Matt played soccer for two years at Whitworth University where he was a NSCAA 2nd team All-American selection in 2001. He followed that with five years in the PDL for the Spokane Shadow, captaining the team for four years. Matt also played college football for Whitworth where he was a place kicker, punter and wide receiver. When Matt’s weekend isn’t filled with soccer games he enjoys spending time with his wife (Jenn) and dog (Moses).
